How connecting works

Connecting an assistant to Thndr takes one sign-in and one approval on your phone. Your assistant never sees your Thndr password, and it can only use the tools you choose.

The first connection

  1. Your client finds Thndr's sign-in. You give it the server URL, https://mcp.thndr.app/mcp, and nothing else. The server tells the client where to sign in.
  2. You sign in with your Thndr account on a Thndr page in your browser. You type your credentials into Thndr, never into the AI client.
  3. You choose the tools. The page lists every tool, grouped. Allow just the reads if that is all you want.
  4. You approve on your phone. Thndr sends a notification to the Thndr app naming the tools you chose. Check that the number on your phone matches the one on screen, then approve.
  5. You're connected. The browser hands you back to your client, which now holds its own access to Thndr, limited to those tools.

After that, your client stays signed in. If it ever asks you to sign in again, go through the same steps.

What your assistant can do

It sees what the Thndr app shows you, and nothing more. Every request goes to Thndr with your own permissions, so the server adds no access you didn't already have.

  • Read your portfolio, cash, orders, trades, savings, deposits and withdrawals, and market data: prices, charts, dividends, top movers and curated lists.
  • Make small changes you can see in the app: create, rename or delete a savings cloud, edit your watchlist, manage price alerts, and cancel an open order.
  • Propose trades and savings transfers. A proposal of 1 to 5 items arrives in your Thndr app, and you approve or decline each one.

What it can't do

  • It can't use a tool you didn't allow. Those tools are hidden from it, and refused if it tries.
  • It can't change your account settings, your password or your bank details.
  • Thndr asks your assistant to restate every change and wait for your yes before making it.

Change or remove a connection

  • To allow a different set of tools, remove Thndr from your client and connect again. You choose the tools each time you connect.
  • To disconnect, remove Thndr from your client's connectors or MCP servers.

Prices and market data

Prices and market data may be delayed. Use the Thndr app for the live price before you approve a trade.
